Graduation Requirements
Anchor Christian Academy maintains full alignment with the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce graduation requirements. Our academic program ensures that all students complete the mandated core credits in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and other required disciplines. Courses are structured to meet or exceed state standards while integrating biblical worldview and character development, preparing graduates for postsecondary education, professional pursuits, and lifelong service. Below you will find the three areas that must be completed to receive a high school diploma. Click this link for more information.

The state of Ohio requires every student graduating with a high school diploma to receive 20 units. This consists of the following: English Language Arts (4 units), Health (1/2 unit), Mathematics (4 units), Physical Education (1/2 unit), Science (3 units), Social Studies (3 units), and Electives (5 credits). Students must receive instruction in economics and financial literacy in at least two semesters of fine arts (during grades 7-12). If a student desires to graduate with an Abeka diploma, they will need to complete a total of 24 units. They can speak with their school counselor for further details.

The state of Ohio requires that students earn a “competency” score on their English language arts II and Algebra I end-of-course tests. ACA administers the IOWA Form E to all students in the Spring. To earn competency, a student must receive a score of 249 on the English Arts II portion and a 255 on the Algebra 1 portion. If a student is not able to meet competency through these exams, Ohio allows a student to receive it through College Credit Plus, ACT or SAT, Career Experience and Technical Skill, or Military Enlistment. In addition to fulfilling curriculum requirements and meeting the competency requirements, students also must show they are prepared for their next steps after high school. State law created 12 diploma seals for students to demonstrate academic, technical and professional readiness for careers, college, the military or self-sustaining professions. Each seal allows students to demonstrate knowledge and skills essential for future success in their chosen post-high school paths. Students will demonstrate readiness by earning at least two diploma seals, one of which must be state-defined. Seals help students develop an array of critical skills that are valuable to them as they transition to the next steps after high school. Schools should consider encouraging students to pursue seals that meet their individual interests and skills. Graduation planning will be an important step in supporting students in earning their seals. Please refer to the link at the top of the page to view the seals.
